Institutional open access agreements
The Library subscribes to a number of institutional agreements that cover or reduce the cost of open access publication.
To use an agreement, you must be a corresponding author at LJMU, use your university email address and select Liverpool John Mores University as your affiliation.
If you are likely to leave LJMU before the peer review process ends we recommend choosing a co-author who is a permanent member of staff as the corresponding author. Due to publisher requirements the corresponding author must still be at LJMU when the research is accepted for publishing. The corresponding author is the individual who takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review and publication process. They are not necessarily the first author, and this is different to a contributing author.
You can check whether the journal of your choice is covered in our agreements by using the Open Journal Checker.
Please note:
If a journal title is not found this means it is not covered.
Before you submit
Please check the terms of the agreement for the journal by selecting the arrow next to the icon in the Who pays column. Some publishers exclude specific research item types categorised by the journal. The journal can also levy additional charges such as page and colour charges in addition to open access charges. These charges are not covered by our agreements.
