CPD First Episode Psychosis Assessment and Treatment

If you’re a healthcare practitioner, this course is an engaging journey into the complexities of mental health conditions. This module will run for 15 weeks and will commence in April and run on a Wednesday. 

There are 9 weeks of face-to-face sessions at our School of Nursing and Advanced Practice, Tithebarn Building (L2 2ER), in the heart of Liverpool city centre. 

The assessment for this module culminates in week 15 with a written essay where you will demonstrate a comprehensive analysis of common mental health presentations, demonstrating an understanding of their symptoms and characteristics. You will  critically evaluate the evidence supporting early intervention strategies for psychotic disorders, exploring how timely care impacts outcomes. Additionally, the assessment involves examining predisposing factors for psychosis and identifying preventative interventions that could mitigate progression. A critical evaluation of clinical decision-making processes for referrals and management pathways for psychosis and other mental health conditions is also required. This involves assessing criteria for referral, best practices in patient care, and the importance of coordinated management in improving patient outcomes.

• Undergraduate degree

  Applicants should hold a BA/BSc (Hons) degree in a relevant subject at a 2:2 level or higher. We also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate appropriate professional registration and/or experience in a relevant clinical specialty.
