Course aim

Come and study topics at the forefront of innovation and development in education, with a focus on how to expand your approach to educational techniques within a clinical and workplace context that will enhance and engage staff and students learning. 

This CPD module explores the latest innovations and developments in teaching and education to offer students the opportunity to push the boundaries of traditional clinical education and enhance their knowledge, skills and the application of education across a number of different processes and techniques. 

During the module you will explore innovative educational topics such as:

  • The application and use of AI 
  • Using VR to engage learners
  • Robotics innovations
  • Simulation and simulated learning 
  • Expanding best practice on virtual learning platforms
  • Benefits and pitfalls of innovation implementation, including funding, intellectual property and trademarking 

Course content

This course runs from April through to July and is over a course of 15 weeks including assessment point. 

Teaching and learning

This CPD module commences in April and consists of 12 sessions which are a mix of both online and face to face lectures and seminars which allows the students to explore innovations in clinical education, developing their own perspectives and ideas about effective and engaging learning opportunities and innovations within the field of clinical education.  

Resources: You will be expected to have access to or be able to engage with VLE through online access - therefore computer/laptop and tablet/smartphone access would be helpful for this module.

Qualification requirements

  • Undergraduate degree

    Applicants should hold a BA/BSc (Hons) degree in a relevant subject at a 2:2 level or higher. We also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate appropriate professional registration and/or experience in a relevant clinical specialty.
