To facilitate safe study and work practices, we have made changes to the way we are working during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Access to LJMU Special Collections and Archives is currently restricted to pre-booked appointments only within our normal opening hours of 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.  Appointments and requests for specific material must be made at least 5 working days in advance, to allow for quarantine of archive material.  Please note that no browsing is currently possible, you must request the specific items you wish to view.

For more information and to book an appointment, please email the LJMU Archivist.

Searching for items

Items designated 'Special Collection' in Library Discover are materials collected over a number of years in the form of items: of historical interest or antiquarian books, limited editions, artists' books and special formats. These can be located by author, title or keyword searches.

Separate catalogues are available for most of our archives and collections on the relevant collection page. We have recently started adding catalogues to a new online archive catalogue which will eventually include all of our catalogues. For more information please contact the LJMU Archivist.
