Special Collections and Archives

Photographs, manuscripts, books and videos - LJMU Special Collections and Archives hold distinctive visual materials.

Liverpool John Moores University Special Collections and Archives manage the University’s collections of rare, unique and/or distinctive books and archive materials in accordance with professional standards and relevant legislation.

We collect, document and safeguard material in all formats and make our holdings accessible to LJMU students, staff, and the wider public to encourage and support learning, teaching, research, enjoyment, and inspiration.

Our activities are aligned with the University’s values: our work is student and user-focussed; our activities are informed by and enhanced through collaboration with our communities; and we place emphasis on innovative and courageous approaches that encourage inclusivity and sustainability.

Please contact the LJMU Archivist if you would like to consult the collections. Our accommodation provides climate-controlled storage space and a comfortable Reading Room for study and research in the Aldham Robarts Library.
