Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies
CPD for Policing Studies
Helping individuals and organisations meet the ever-changing demands of policing and law enforcement.
Our new range of accredited CPD programmes, events and Masterclasses are designed for serving officers aiming for promotion, academic achievement or maintaining a workplace registration or accreditation through CPD. Many of the programmes would also be suitable for people interested in entering law enforcement and for organisations looking for bespoke learning packages for employees.
Our CPD offer will be available for applications in the near future.
The portfolio will offer a varied approach to module delivery, including on-site, distance learning, off-site, and a blend of all three options depending on the students’ requirements and occasionally the content of specific modules.
Each CPD module is designed around key policing and law enforcement issues or practice, whether it be something which addresses current demand for technical knowledge or a future government policy identified through the Liverpool Centre for Policing Studies’ horizon scanning programme. This means every module is cutting-edge and meets the exacting demands of contemporary law enforcement.
Credit-bearing CPD
All standard CPD modules will be offered in 20-credit format, enabling students to build up their academic credits over time. If you choose to take this approach, you can build up your credits towards a masters qualification in policing. The CPD courses which will be on offer in the first phase will include:
- Management of Ongoing Investigations
- Crime Scene Management and Forensic Awareness
- Leading the Complexity: Exploring the Challenges of Strategic Policing Leadership at National and International Levels
- Techniques for Computer Security
- Techniques for Computer Forensics
- Trace Evidence Analysis
- Advanced Crime Scene Forensic Methods
- Fire Investigation
- Forensic Bioscience
Short courses
For students wishing to maintain their CPD hours we will also be offering a range of condensed short courses (4-5 hours in duration) which will take the form of non-credit bearing CPD events either held on LJMU premises or on a site of the clients’ choice.
Masterclasses
The Centre’s CPD team will also be offering a variety of Masterclasses running throughout the year which consist of single two-hour presentations by leading experts and practitioners based on current themes and topics or their particular area of expertise. Masterclasses will be announced in the coming weeks and will be held on LJMU premises.
