Randox Health Week

3 - 5 April 2017

Randox Health Week in association with LJMU and the University of Liverpool

3 - 5 April 2017

The new sponsor of the Grand National is Randox, the UK’s leading blood-science diagnostic company. Randox research, develop and manufacture highly innovative clinical diagnostic products, which are used in 145 countries around the world. Last year, Randox’s output of 3.5 billion individual tests enabled the clinical diagnosis of some 370m people. With research scientists and engineers making up a quarter of its workforce, Randox has led the market for over 35 years in a number of additional fields including Veterinary Diagnostics, Toxicology and Food Diagnostics. Driving each development is the Randox commitment to push boundaries and remain at the cutting-edge of diagnostic capability.

At its core is the concept of preventive health and a commitment to transform global healthcare through earlier and more accurate diagnosis. “Prevention is always better than cure”, says founder and CEO Dr Peter FitzGerald, “…our aim is to empower people to take control of their health, to live longer and more healthy lives. Our innovation, which is centred on human healthcare, has proven to be highly adaptable and enabled us to also bring leading capabilities to the veterinary, toxicology and food safety disciplines. The Randox Health Week, with our partners Liverpool John Moore University and Leahurst Veterinary School, is an important step in sharing that message, and I am delighted that we are able to invite our mutual stakeholders to take part in this.”

LJMU School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has developed an educational series based around sport, health, exercise and performance and we are all delighted to be able to invite you to this event. The sessions are delivered by a combination of world leading industry and academic speakers concerning aspects of weight-making strategies of professional jockeys, equine health and fitness and bio-markers for health.

The sessions will take place over three afternoons of Monday 3, Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 April prior to the Randox Health Grand National Festival, starting on 6 April. You are invited to attend one or all of these sessions and you will also have the opportunity to visit the World Class Sport and Exercise Sciences laboratory facilities housed within the Tom Reilly Building.
