You will start with an Induction session to familiarise yourself with other participants, the leadership and management journey and to ease you into a supportive environment. Buffet lunch is provided too.
We will provide supervisors to help you with the accredited sessions, as appropriate, and bundles of support from the Enhance Project Team.
Start times are either 9.45am or 10am and typically workshops end at either 12.45pm or 1.30pm depending upon your programme.
As we progress throughout 2022, we will look to add more qualifications in Leadership and Management skills based on demand, so be prepared to continue your learning journey!
To get things moving, Chris Walters, Project Manager, will undertake an individual learner assessment with you, to guide you through the entry process and eligibility forms that are required for the funding. If you have any further questions Chris will be able to help.
We will use face-to-face (f2f) delivery to develop your learning, and, if COVID-19 returns with any restrictions on meeting, we will switch to an online delivery platform. (for example Zoom or Microsoft Teams)
Main eligibility is aged 18 plus, live in the Liverpool City Region and working for either a social enterprise or small and medium business (SME) or microenterprise (for example less than 10 employees) for more than 16 hours per week.
Please check the Eligibility Criteria dropdown as you could be fully funded, which essentially means the support we provide is at no direct cost to the participant subject to eligibility.
Both employees and employers of SMEs and micro enterprises would be the immediate beneficiaries of this learning opportunity.
- Employees currently fulfilling junior management, supervision and leadership role(s).
- Employees that have the potential for senior leadership role(s) that have been overlooked for whatever reason.
- Employees that manage teams.
- Employees working in areas such as project management and change.
- Team Leader or Supervisor that is new to management.
- Senior Managers and Directors that have not had formal Leadership and Management training previously.
- Employees managing other staff.
- Employees that have recently returned to work after caring for somebody.
- SME owners that want to learn more about inspiring leadership in a world of increased change from developments in digital transformation, climate change and sustainability.

Essentially, if you're aged 18+, live in the Liverpool City Region and have the right to work in England and Wales and work, as an employee or self-employed, of a small and medium (SME) business you will be eligible.

Chris Walters
Programme and Delivery Manager
Chris has been working with SME’s for over 35 years, enjoying a career with NatWest, MSIF, Grant Thornton and Spark Impact.
Chris became a Business Manager at NatWest before moving into the Investment world at MSIF. As an Investment Manager within MSIF Chris invested over £8M into over 200 deals in a variety of sectors including Creative and Digital and Environmental technologies. This investment contributed to the creation of more than 1850 jobs and levered in £70m of private sector investment into Merseyside.
Chris joined LJMU in 2019, working within the Creative and Digital sector on the LCR Activate project. Chris provided ‘hands on’ support and grant funding to Digital and Creative sector businesses. Activate outlined how SME’s could access disruptive technologies such as Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, AR/VR, supported by LJMU’s Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Within the Enhance project Chris will be working with SME’s and individuals to explore their opportunities to expand abilities and minimise skill gaps in the workplace across the Liverpool City Region.

Amanda Wilson
Senior Programme Officer
I have been working with European Union (EU) funded projects for the last 20 years supporting businesses and entrepreneurs across the Liverpool City region. My background is in marketing and business support across different sectors. I have been at LJMU for a number of years working on different programmes such as LCR 4.0 and Sustainable Urban Development programme.
My role with within the Enhance Project is to help support individuals with their learning experience, and ensuring the administrative and compliance requirements are met.
