Bicentenary year gets underway

As our 200th year gets underway, we are excited to celebrate with you, our students and our staff, and there will be opportunities throughout the year for you to get involved.

From high profile Roscoe lectures and international academic conferences to campus-wide exhibitions, student-driven projects and alumni homecomings; 2023 will be a year showcasing the best of LJMU.

Telling the stories of our people

To begin our celebrations, we’re sharing the first of 200 online profiles that tell the story of our people from the past, the present and those shaping and changing the future for the better.

In the first 26 curated stories, we look back at the founding figures of 1823 who were courageous in their pursuit of providing education to the men and women of the city of Liverpool.

We also travel through the decades reflecting on the people who have shaped the modern university that we see today, and individual stories of those who have been able to learn, develop and grow at LJMU. Further profiles will be shared over the next 12 months.

Stay tuned for a calendar of events

A calendar of events will go live shortly where you will be able to sign-up and ensure you are a part of what is set to be a fantastic milestone in our history.

You can find out more from our weekly student (sent each Wednesday) and staff (sent each Thursday) newsletters, or by visiting our bicentenary pages to check for updates.
