Delivering more efficient assessment processes for staff
A new enhanced assessment and marking solution is now in place at LJMU, delivering greater efficiency and reducing duplication.
Marks-to-SIS streamlines the end-to-end assessment and marks lifecycle by connecting CourseLoop, the Student Information System (SIS) and Canvas.
The initiative brings considerable tangible benefits to academic colleagues and schools administrative staff:
- Simpler processes which free up more time for other activities
- Staff are only required to enter information once, meaning less rekeying, fewer spreadsheets and fewer hand-offs
- Significant reduction in duplication
The process results in an improved student experience as they receive more consistent assessment information.

Marks-to-SIS brings huge benefits to our academic and administrative staff and to the university overall.

Professor Clare Milsom, LJMU Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, said: “It provides a simplified and efficient system for assessment data, with the reduction in duplication and manual tasks freeing up more time for staff to devote to teaching and student support.
“The process supports our commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience at LJMU, with our students able to receive their assessment information in a more consistent manner.
“My thanks to all colleagues who have worked so hard on the implementation of this system, which will bring real benefits to the university.”
