Girl's comics and women's magazines

From Bunty to Spare Rib, we have a range of comics and magazines in our archive

LJMU has a growing collection of girl’s comics and women’s magazines, which date back to the 1920s. The collection of comics and magazines chart the development of the feminine reading career, from young girl’s adventure stories through to marriage and domesticity.

The magazines and annuals are used by academics to support their research in Media, Culture, Communications. The collection is also utilised for events and activities as part of the national Being Human Festival of the Humanities and Liverpool’s Writing on the Wall literary festival.
