New financial wellbeing support for staff

The university is introducing several new financial wellbeing measures to support staff during this challenging financial period.

The new measures help to ensure that a holistic offering is available and will cover financial education, access to advice, interest free loans and discounts through Vivup Benefits Platform.

New financial wellbeing platform

In partnership with Planned Futures, our new platform enables you to access monthly financial newsletters and updates, keeping you informed on the current financial climate. There are interactive webinars on a range of financial topics and hints and tips on budgeting, with helpful online calculators to assist.

In addition, through the platform, you can also access advice and support from an independent financial adviser.

You can also access the platform through the Wellbeing Hub.

Planned Futures will also be hosting several on-site sessions across the year ranging from ’Personal Financial Planning’ to ‘Financial Planning for Retirement’.  You can book onto these through the staff events page.

LJMU staff loan

A new LJMU staff loan has been launched which will replace the previous home computing loan.  This will enable you to access an interest free loan up to a maximum of £1,000. The new loan will not be restricted to home electronics and can be used for the purchase of everyday items such as holidays, large goods or to clear outstanding credit balances, which are attracting interest payments.

You can apply for the new loan through Staff Infobase, selecting the self-service option.

You can find more information about the loan here (follow the link for Staff Loan Guidance).

Visa loan support

A new visa loan scheme is being launched to support new and existing international staff. The scheme provides an interest free loan to help spread the costs incurred in securing UK visas when taking up employment or to remain in employment at LJMU.

The visa loan may be used to cover visa and related fees (immigration health surcharge, biometric fees etc.) for individuals and their immediate, accompanying family members. The scheme is available to staff extending existing visas, applying for new visas or applying for indefinite leave to remain.

The maximum repayment period will be 12 months and repayment will be through the monthly payroll. For further information, please contact your HR Business Partner.

Vivup Benefits Platform

Through the Vivup Benefits Platform, you have access to a huge range of discounts across the UK's major retailers, including supermarkets, technology, fashion, travel and much more. These discounts can all be redeemed as eGift cards making it a simpler process, as well as being a great option for presents and a useful way to save money on all your essentials.
