Dr Ceri Daniels

Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Student Experience (Interim)

Ceri Daniels is passionate about making sure every LJMU student has access to an excellent learning experience and the support they need to succeed. As interim Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Experience, she understands the life-changing impact that education can have and is proud to lead this important area of the University.

Improving teaching, learning, student wellbeing, student engagement and graduate employability has been at the heart of Ceri’s work throughout her career. She has worked in higher education for almost 20 years and, before that, in children’s and youth services across local government and the voluntary sector.Her role also includes Executive Leadership Team (ELT) responsibility for Safeguarding, and helping LJMU use artificial intelligence (AI) in ways that enhance the student experience and prepares graduates for the workplace.

Ceri joined ELT in October 2026. Before this, she spent nine years in LJMU’s School of Education, holding several Subject Head roles before leading a vibrant and committed team as Director of School, a position she held for four years.

She is a founding member of the Teacher Education Strategic Development Board and a former Deputy Chair of the Centre for Educational Leadership. Ceri is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a PhD from the University of Huddersfield, which explored the identity and emotion work of senior leaders. She also has an MBA from LJMU’s Business School.

Creating equitable opportunities in education has been a consistent focus throughout Ceri’s career. She believes everyone should have the opportunity to succeed, contribute and make a difference. As a civic university rooted in Liverpool, LJMU plays an important role in supporting communities while making a positive impact beyond the university, city and region.

This steadfast commitment to outstanding student experience, working together to make a difference and create opportunities, is at the heart of Ceri’s approach.
