Student equity guides

These guides have been developed to support students and staff from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups at Liverpool John Moores University. They celebrate the diverse identities, experiences, and cultures that make up our university community, while providing information, resources, and opportunities to help foster a greater sense of belonging.

Created in collaboration with LJMU students and staff, our guides are rooted in lived experience and authentic perspectives. They are designed to:

  • celebrate and amplify diverse voices and experiences
  • promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • increase understanding of different cultures, identities, and communities
  • provide practical advice and signposting to support services and resources
  • highlight community organisations, networks, events, and opportunities both within LJMU and across Liverpool

Whether you are looking to learn more about a particular community, access support, or explore opportunities to connect with others, these guides offer a starting point for discovery, understanding, and engagement.

Black Experience Guide

This guide brings together insights, experiences, and recommendations from Black students and staff.

It offers tailored suggestions about places to eat and shop, for hair and beauty services, for nightlife, university societies, groups and LJMU support services, as well as community organisations and networks across Liverpool.
