LJMU has evolved from the country’s first Nautical School established in 1852 and is one of only six UK universities with a long-established maritime specialism, covering education, professional training and research.

Through collaborative projects, policy engagement, and real-world pilot studies, the Centre translates academic research into practical, scalable solutions.
