About the Institute of Art and Technology
Established in 2019, the Institute of Art and Technology (IAT) is a world-leading transdisciplinary centre of academic excellence located in LJMU's Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries (LASCI).
Rooted in the history and radical mission of the Liverpool Mechanics’ School of Arts (1825) and the city of Liverpool’s industrial legacy, the Institute has emerged as a pioneer of creativity and innovation, grounded in a deep commitment to inclusion and diversity - values that both shaped its history and foreground its future-facing mission.
IAT is organised into four thematic research clusters – Labs:

- City Lab
- Exhibition Research Lab (ERL)
- Experimental Technologies Lab (XLab)
