The Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies (LCAPS) at Liverpool John Moores University is committed to developing globally connected, evidence-based policing education, research, and practice.

Our international work brings together students, academics, and policing professionals from across the world to share knowledge, explore different approaches to policing, and engage with the challenges facing modern criminal justice systems. By working across international contexts, we aim to broaden understanding, challenge assumptions, and support the development of more informed and reflective policing practice.

We currently maintain strong and growing relationships with partners across Belfast and Northern Ireland, Ireland, the United States, Norway, Australia, Vietnam, and Singapore. These partnerships provide a foundation for a wide range of activity, including student experiences, academic exchange, and collaborative initiatives that extend beyond the classroom and into real-world policing environments.

A global approach to policing education and collaboration

At LCAPS, we recognise that policing does not operate in isolation. It is shaped by social, cultural, and legal contexts, and understanding these differences is essential for anyone entering or working within the profession.

Our international activity is designed to give students and staff opportunities to engage with policing in different settings, encouraging comparative thinking, critical reflection, and professional development.
