Policing, Security and Prisons
About our research
Research undertaken by CCSE members in the Policing, Security and Prisons Research Group focus on the operation of institutions that perform policing, security and social control functions alongside raising critical questions about the role of the modern prison in deeply divided societies like the UK. This research group examines the development of policy and practice, seeks to critically explore experiences of policing from a range of perspectives whilst focusing on the failure of the prison to fulfil any of its official goals, particularly around rehabilitation.
