Matataro Matsumoto (1865-1943)

- Attended Tokyo University, Yale University, and Leipzig University.
- Referred to as the most distinguished figure in the history of Japanese psychology.
- Specialised in experimental psychology and introduced experimental methods for psychological research to Japan.
- Professor at Tokyo Higher Normal School, Kyoto University, and Tokyo University.
- Founded the Japanese Journal of Psychology and the Japanese Psychological Association, for which he was President until he died.
