Recreational Wardrobe: Wardrobe Talk
LJMU Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team are welcoming REcreational Wardrobe to bring you a Wardrobe Talk!
This event has already taken place. This first session will host two speakers from REcreational Wardrobe, Megan and Veronika, who will talk about their work. The event will provide an opportunity to listen, discuss, and connect with others about what fashion means; it’s role in society; and the impact, both positive and negative, that this can have.
Megan: Her Body Her Image
Megan uses art as activism, her latest campaign ‘Her Body Her Image’ is a powerful fusion of art, fashion, and storytelling. Megan listened to women aged 16–25 share how fashion, fast trends, and social media made them feel invisible, ashamed, or never enough. Through her art, Megan’s aim is to take that power back through storytelling. She reclaims the female gaze and challenges how women’s bodies are portrayed and perceived in the industry by taking her paintings and transforming them into fabric, clothing, installations, prints and tapestries.
Veronika: Creativity. Discipline. Resourcefulness.
Veronika is the founder of REcreational Wardrobe. She will speak about her journey in the industry and the three pillars, creativity, discipline and resourcefulness, that have enabled this. She will discuss their work at REcreational Wardrobe and their goal of creating a collaborative community that fosters growth and innovation by connecting young crafters, designers, and textile artists with mentors, businesses and peers.
