Take part in spring graduation 2026

All students who are eligible to attend spring graduation in April will be emailed an invitation to register for their ceremony during the week commencing Monday 19 January.

Spring graduation runs from Wednesday 22 April to Friday 24 April 2026 with ticket collection, gowning and photography taking place at the LJMU Sport Building and the graduation ceremonies at Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican).

Graduation is an enormous university effort, and all staff are encouraged to participate during our ceremonies to ensure our students have a fantastic time.

Staff graduation roles

There are a number of roles that you can register for to support the delivery of our spectacular ceremonies:

  • Student usher - supporting our graduands, making sure they are seated at the right times and ensuring they are in the correct order to go on stage
  • Guest usher - you will be in the main body of the cathedral, welcoming guests, directing them to the seats and answering any questions they may have
  • Procession - colleagues from our schools process through the centre of the cathedral wearing academic robes and sit on stage for the ceremony
  • Banner bearer - carrying one of the LJMU banners to the stage as part of the procession and then from the stage at the end of the ceremony, you will also be able to work as a guest usher alongside this role
  • First aid and fire wardens - a key role as part of a wider team to make sure everybody has a safe and enjoyable experience at our ceremonies

Staff registration

Staff have from Monday 19 January until Wednesday 8 April to register their attendance at our ceremonies, this includes gown hire for those processing and those who wish to wear their academic robe as an usher.

Register via the graduation webpages.

There will be a separate registration process for staff supporting our July ceremonies, which will be shared later in the year.
