Archie Alexander
Alexander was an American Engineer and Architect.- The first black graduate from the University of Iowa engineering program, he formed Alexander & Repass (A&R) in 1929.
- He spent his life working at A&R, the company being responsible for the construction of many roads and bridges in the Washington DC area.
- His works include the Whitehurst Freeway, the Tidal Basin Bridge, and an extension to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
- Alexander was awarded the Harmon Award for his achievement in business and engineering in 1926.
