Chander Alimchandani (1935-2015)

  • Alimchandani graduated from the University of Pune, India, with a degree in 1957, then training for two years in France with the company STUP.
  • Chander made a number of large pre-stressed concrete bridges across rivers in northern India.
  • The contribution to construction is recognized by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).
  • Developing STUP into an independent construction company, its interests expanded into the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
  • In 1994, he won an International Award of Merit in Structural Engineering.
