Ruth Winifred Howard (1900 - 1970)

  • Attended Simmons College and the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development.
  • Was the first Black woman to receive a Ph.D. in psychology.
  • Specialised in developmental and clinical psychology, nursing education, and social work.
  • A member of the American Psychological Association, International Psychological Association, and the International Council of Women Psychologists.
  • Was a pioneer for women in psychology.
