Celebrating 20 years of the Start-up Hub
LJMU is celebrating 20 years of the Start-up Hub this month.
Formerly known as Student Enterprise, the Start-up Hub began in 2004 in the Peter Jost Enterprise Centre.
20 years later and the Start-up Hub has helped over 1,000 businesses and is estimated to have contributed over £20 million in income to the Liverpool City Region economy each year.
Marking 20 years
To mark 20 years since it began, LJMU invited students and graduates to an event in the Student Life Building this month, to celebrate the milestone.
The event provided LJMU entrepreneurs with an opportunity to reflect on their start-up journeys, catch up with old colleagues and make new business connections.
Sole Traders, Limited Companies and Community Interest Companies from across the North West were in attendance at the event, representing the wide range of businesses that have received support from the Start-up Hub team over the years.
Emma Robinson, who started the team twenty years ago and is now Head of Work-Based Learning & Enterprise at LJMU, said:
“I’m proud of every single one of our entrepreneurs. The impact they have on the Liverpool City Region is immense and it has been a pleasure to have worked with them over the last 20 years.”
