New student-led journal showcases art and creative work



Dr Rebecca Smith, Senior Lecturer in History of Art and Museum Studies, and Bella Farruggia, a graduating third year in History of Art and Museum Studies, are delighted to announce the launch of the Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries (LSACI) Journal — a new, student-led, peer-reviewed publication that showcases the diverse creative and academic work produced by students across the school.

The inaugural issue was an open call, celebrating a wide range of voices and practices. It coincides with the 200-year anniversary of the Liverpool School of Art and the upcoming merger with the Liverpool Screen School to form the Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries.

About the journal

Founded in 2025 by Bella Farruggia with the support of Dr Rebecca Smith, the LSACI Journal is a platform by students, for students. It publishes a variety of content including:

  • Academic articles and essays
  • Reviews and interviews
  • Practice-based research
  • Visual essays, photography, and creative works

The journal provides students with valuable experience in academic publishing and contributes to enhancing graduate outcomes. It also serves as a repository for the high-quality, diverse outputs produced by our student body.

Call for submissions and peer reviewers

We are currently welcoming submissions from students at all levels, as well as expressions of interest from those who would like to join the journal as peer reviewers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with academic publishing and develop critical and editorial skills.

We encourage staff to share this opportunity with students and support them in submitting their work or getting involved in the editorial process.
