More than 500 staff attend Students at the Heart Conference 2025
70 insightful sessions delivered by staff and students
More than 500 members of staff and students have attended the Students at the Heart Conference 2025.
The conference saw more than 70 sessions take place over the two-day event, on topics including AI, the student experience, widening participation and research informed teaching.
Keynote speakers
Attendees also heard two insightful keynote lectures from speakers James Coe, Counterculture Partnership LLP on ‘The end of the student experience as we know it’ and Jimmy Pickering, Director of Communities, The Brilliant Club on ‘The Power of Place.’
Annual event for all staff
The SATHC25 is organised in partnership with the Teaching and Learning Academy and Organisational Development team and is the fourth annual conference held at the university.
Market stalls and exhibitors were also present for the LJMU community, to provide key information on health, wellbeing and benefits of working at LJMU, as well as other support and initiatives including web accessibility, diversity and inclusion and sustainability on campus.
LJMU Charity Partners; Micah Liverpool, The Girl’s Network and Claire House Children’s Hospice were also present in the Student Life Building to provide information on their respective charities, the amazing work they do, and how staff can get involved.

The conference came to an end with a BBQ and closing remarks from Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Power, who thanked the event organisers and staff for their attendance, and acknowledged how inspiring and creative the sessions at the two-day conference are, each academic year.
