Teachers from schools and colleges across Northern Ireland visit LJMU
The Outreach team within LJMU’s Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions department welcomed to the university a delegation of teachers from schools and colleges across Northern Ireland.
In a packed itinerary that included an overnight stay in Liverpool, visitors received an update on the latest admissions policies during an informative Q&A admissions panel; heard from current Northern Irish students about their experiences of life at LJMU; and the latest student finance information before visiting some of our approved student accommodation and a tour of the Mount Pleasant Campus.

Northern Irish students will always look to study in England, and we are proud to have the highest number of those students choosing to study at LJMU. That large community of students from Northern Ireland supports each other in making Liverpool a home-from-home for young people starting out in their adult life.
We are committed to our pastoral role in ensuring these students achieve the success they are capable of, and we are experienced in providing professional support specific to the needs of students from Northern Ireland.

During the remainder of the visit, the group visited Tithebarn Street, where the teachers discovered more about nursing and midwifery programmes before touring LJMU’s impressive clinical simulation suites and specialist paramedic ambulance suites.
Outreach team Account Manager, Sharon Roden, said: “This event is just one element of LJMU’s outreach strategy in Northern Ireland which has been established for over 25 years.
“The strong relationships we hold with schools and colleges in the region means the LJMU brand is promoted to prospective students by the Outreach team throughout the year via school-based presentations, careers fairs, an annual applicant day in Belfast, and the summer university programme.
“In a market which is becoming increasingly competitive, this event is important for maintaining our close links with Northern Irish teachers who continually allow us access to their students, ensuring LJMU remains the number one university destination outside of Northern Ireland”.
What the teachers said about their time at LJMU
Feedback from the event was extremely positive with comments including:
“I felt very welcome and looked after. The content of the day was very informative and useful and I was very pleased that the day was full…it was excellent to have a day specifically tailored to NI teachers.”
“We are very impressed with what the university has to offer, and it was great to see it all first hand. I think we now feel in a much better position to recommend LJMU to our students.”
“I felt the day was well organised, and the university team did a fantastic job in showcasing what was available to students who are travelling over from Northern Ireland to study.”
The university’s commitment to Northern Ireland continues with school and college tours throughout the academic year and the Northern Ireland Applicant Day confirmed to take place in Belfast on Saturday 7 March 2026.
