LJMU strengthens partnership with Shanghai University of Engineering Science

LJMU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) that will encourage long term collaboration and partnership opportunities for students and staff.

Six delegates from SUES, including Vice-President, Professor Chunming Xia, visited LJMU campus to meet with Vice Chancellor, Professor Mark Power, PVC External Engagement and Partnerships, Dr Aileen Jones and staff from across LJMU’s International team and Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in LJMU’s Student Life Building with the aim to increase collaboration, joint research, student projects and mobility opportunities between the two institutions.

Background to the partnership

LJMU has partnered with SUES since 2017 on a variety of Science and Engineering- based projects, including the Sino-British Joint Lab for Smart Sportswear and for Sustainable Package Design.

Exchanges have also taken place over the years with students from SUES attending the LJMU Global Summer School programme and LJMU fashion students taking part in the Shanghai Summer School Fashion Pathway joint project.

In October 2019, LJMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark Power was also appointed as an Honorary Professor of SUES.
