Vice-Chancellor announces new faculty appointments



A number of appointments have been made to new roles as part of the new two-faculty structure of the university.

Announcing new academic and professional services managers in the Faculty of Society and Culture and the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Power, said: "This has been an important phase in allowing us to realise the benefits of the two Faculty model, help ensure that our structures are fit for purpose under the model and bring us important stability and clarity as we look ahead to the start of the new academic year and continue to deliver on our priorities.

"I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the transformation and structural change processes. I recognise the challenges this period has presented and I greatly value the commitment shown by colleagues throughout. I congratulate all the new appointees. 

The new roles are as follows: 

Faculty of Society and Culture

Business Manager – Amanda Stewart-Reilly. This new role will provide strategic leadership and management of the faculty’s operations and processes. Amanda will provide strategic management of administrative and technical staff,  develop faculty processes in collaboration with central services, and ensure the effective delivery of resources, planning, technical provision, and research and enterprise support. She will also lead on business continuity, risk management, and health and safety within the faculty.

Academic Services Manager – Lyndsey Philip. This new role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the faculty’s school-based academic administration. Lyndsey will ensure the delivery of high-quality professional support for the student experience, including processes for responding to student feedback, resolving queries and complaints, and signposting students to available services.

Associate Deans

  • Professor Tony Wall – has been reappointed as Associate Dean, Research and Knowledge Exchange
  • Andy Doyle has been appointed as Associate Dean, Student Experience
  • The Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion position remains vacant and will be readvertised at the beginning of the academic year.

Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science 

Business Manager – Andy Walne. This new role will focus on strategic business management, planning and faculty performance. Andy will lead on business planning, operational oversight and performance enhancement, ensuring alignment with university and faculty priorities, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Student Services Manager – Aly Leigh. This new role will enhance the service to students by strengthening first-point-of-contact support, increasing student engagement, and ensuring effective referrals to central services. Aly will lead the Programme Administration, Degree Apprenticeship, and Collaborative Teams, and will oversee the faculty’s Student Zone and engagement activities.

Technical Services Manager – Sara Rioux. This new role will provide leadership and oversight of the faculty’s technical services, ensuring resources are managed effectively and estates are used to best effect. Sara will also oversee maintenance contracts, software licences, and decommissioning, and will promote the sharing of best practice and progression opportunities across technical teams.

Associate Deans

  • Dr Linda Seton has been reappointed as Associate Dean, Research and Knowledge Exchange
  • Dr Denise Lee has been appointed as Associate Dean, Education and Student Experience
  • Dr Komang Ralebitso Senior has been reappointed as Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion
