Julia is an award-winning artist who specialises in documentary drawing and reportage. As an LJMU veteran of more than 25 years before retiring in 2013, Julia is our Bicentenary year Artist in Residence, capturing special moments through watercolour sketches to help record this significant moment in our history.
Elizabeth is the Head of Primary Programmes within the School of Education, and her own career in teaching brought her to work at the university. In 2023, she won a JMSU Student Experience Award, after being nominated as an outstanding teacher with students praising her for her support, empathy, and enthusiasm in all that she does.
Faye is a 2023 graduate of LJMU, having studied law. She had, at times, a challenging experience at university, discovering she had dyslexia and a degenerative condition that impacted on her memory and conversation. But she showed resilience, courage and determination, with support from her family and LJMU, to successfully complete her studies.
Sam is a Class of 2023 graduate and will start work with our Student Futures team in September 2023, after enjoying working alongside them during his studies.
Louisa Fitter is a Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager at the Environment Agency, and she was chosen as a Bicentenary year honorary fellow for her work as a STEM ambassador for women in engineering and being a role model to current LJMU students.
Lucy Day is a Research Impact Officer within our Research and Innovation Services here at LJMU. She graduated from LJMU in 2002 in psychology and biology and has been working at LJMU since 2010.
LJMU’s most watched YouTube video features shorthand lecturer Sue, who worked for more than a decade with Liverpool Screen School before retiring in 2017, teaching the skill to aspiring journalism students.
Professor Roger Webster is the former Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies and Professor of Literary Studies at the university. He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by LJMU in 2017 for his outstanding contribution to arts and cultural education. He brought together a book on the origins and history of LJMU, released in 2017 for the university’s 25th anniversary.
Abdelrahman is a third-year biomedical sciences student. He came to LJMU from Egypt through the International Foundation Year and worked as a student mentor for fellow international students, to provide support and advice to help others settle into life in Liverpool.
