  1. Professor Jason Arday profile

    One of the UK’s youngest Black professors, an LJMU alum and former lecturer who attributes the success of his academic career so far, in part, to the supportive leadership and peers here at the university.

  2. Ami Hopkins

    Ami is an engineer with a passion for sailing. She is a graduate of the university’s BSc (Hons) Product Innovation and Development programme and has since gone on to make history as a member of the first all-female team to win an around the world yacht race on the Maiden yacht.

  3. Professor Andy Newsam

    A Professor of Astronomy Education and Engagement, Andy is a champion of explaining complex science under his directorship of the National Schools’ Observatory, ensuring access to the universe for all.

  4. Shaquita Corry

    Shaquita is the 2022/23 Liverpool John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) Vice President for Education and is passionate about furthering diversity in education. Having lost her mum during her own studies, she demonstrated incredible courage to have completed her degree at such a challenging time in her life, and to then go on to represent the student voice at JMSU.

  5. Rachel Stalker

    Solicitor Rachel founded LJMU’s free Legal Advice Centre in 2014, just one year after she joined the School of Law. Every year the centre helps hundreds of people through its free legal advice and public legal information activities, contributing significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of the Liverpool City Region, while developing our students’ skills to put them one step ahead in their professional careers upon graduation.

  6. Beth Tweddle MBE

    Beth graduated with a degree in sports science in 2007 and was in the very first class of scholars in the Sports Scholarship programme that launched in 2004. She is renowned as Britain’s greatest-ever female gymnast.

  7. John Bishop

    Liverpudlian entertainer and comic, recognised by LJMU in 2014 with an Honorary Fellowship and a proud supporter of the university and our students.

  8. Emily Salinas

    Emily is an alumnus from our Liverpool School of Art and Design. Having studied graphic arts she is now raising awareness about the signs of abusive relationships and the modern phenomenon of ‘lovebombing’ through her creative works.

  9. Professor Peter Toyne CBE DL

    Professor Peter Toyne was the Rector at Liverpool Polytechnic between 1986 and 1992 and the first LJMU Vice-Chancellor, once it gained university status, from 1992 to 2000. His vision for the polytechnic and then the university benefited not just students but Liverpool too.
