  2. Professor Mike Riley

    Professor Mike Riley has worked at LJMU for some 33 years and is the Director of the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment. He is passionate about giving students the tools they need to be the best that they can be in the world of building and construction.

  3. Dr Elizabeth Malone

    Elizabeth is the Head of Primary Programmes within the School of Education, and her own career in teaching brought her to work at the university. In 2023, she won a JMSU Student Experience Award, after being nominated as an outstanding teacher with students praising her for her support, empathy, and enthusiasm in all that she does.

    Surface Engineering research at GERI focuses on improving the performance, durability and reliability of materials and components through advanced surface finishing, surface modification, surface characterisation and related technologies.

  8. Dr Scott Foster

    Scott is the PhD programme leader with responsibility for the doctoral students in our business school. Having followed a path into the miliary at just 16, gaining only one GCSE, Scott came to study for a degree at LJMU later in life, eventually gaining a PhD before becoming a member of staff and now inspiring others to follow in his footsteps.
