Registering as an LJMU student

Once you have received an email from us confirming your place at LJMU, you can then register as a student on our My LJMU platform. You will need the student ID number from your email to complete your registration.

Registration step-by-step guidance

  1. 1. Activate your LJMU account

Begin your registration on My LJMU by clicking on My Account and then Activate My Account. Follow the instructions to set up your university username and password.

    Please note:
Make sure that you set up a secure and memorable password as you will need it to access all IT systems.

  2. 2. Fill in the registration form

Fill in your personal details on the online registration form found under My Course and then My Registration.

  3. 3. Upload your personal identification documents

Upload a valid form of personal identification such as a copy of your driving licence or passport, so that we can complete an ID check. Upload this in the My Services section.

  4. 4. Upload a photo for your student ID card

Choose a digital photo of yourself and upload the photo to your account under My Account and then My Photo. This photo will be used on your student ID card.

  5. 5. Get your student ID card

Complete registration before Sunday 8 September and your student ID card, along with an LJMU lanyard and campus map, will be automatically printed and dispatched to your home address via first-class mail.

If you complete registration after Sunday 8 September, you will need to collect your student ID card at one of our pop-up card collection hubs.

Further details for card collection are as follows:

    • Card collection opens Thursday 12 September 2024 until Friday 4 October 2024, 8am to 6pm, weekdays only at the following LJMU buildings: Tithebarn Building, Student Life Building, James Parsons Building and Redmonds Building.
    • In addition, student ID cards can be collected during the weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September 2024, 10am to 4pm at the Tithebarn Building, Student Life Building.
    • PGCE/DE students can collect ID cards on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 September 2024 at Student Life Building.
    • LPC students can collect on Friday 6 September 2024 at Redmonds Building.
  6. 6. Bring your student ID card on your first day

It is compulsory to wear your student ID card when you are on campus in LJMU buildings so don’t forget to bring it with you for your first day.

    Please note:
Most of our students will be starting on Monday 16 September 2024. Students starting their studies at other times in the year will be contacted directly about their registration and student ID card collection.

Your IT account and ID card

Your LJMU IT account is for your use only. During your registration, you will be asked to set a secure password – it’s very important that you set this to something you will remember, as you will need it to access all our IT systems.  If you forget your password, you will need some information from your student ID card to reset it, so you must always keep your ID card safe, like you would your bank card – you will need it to access university buildings, use our printers and more.

Your next steps

Now you’ve registered you are officially an LJMU student, congratulations! Go back to our Before You Arrive webpages to find out what else you can do now to be ready for starting your studies.

Registration and ID card collection for international students

As well as completing the registration steps above you must also submit additional documentation to become an LJMU student. Go to My Services and look for the International Student Document Upload. Further guidance is available on the International Enrolment webpage.
