Volunteering opportunities
Who you can volunteer with, and where you can go
Liverpool John Moores University has approved a number of organisations that offer international volunteering opportunities for students. These Providers offer a variety of projects, destinations and experiences, enabling students to choose an opportunity that aligns with their interests, skills and personal development goals.
We encourage you to research the available opportunities carefully before selecting a Provider to ensure the experience is suitable for your individual needs, expectations and objectives. Each organisation has its own application process, programme costs, placement locations and project focus, so it is important to review the information provided by each provider thoroughly before applying.
Please note:
LJMU's approval of a provider does not imply endorsement of a specific project or guarantee availability. Students are responsible for undertaking their own research and ensuring they understand the requirements, costs, terms and conditions associated with their chosen programme before making an application.
Approved providers
Travelteer: Volunteering opportunities in Morocco, Sri Lanka and Vietnam
Think Pacific: Opportunities in Fiji, Indonesia and Thailand
Smaller Earth: Summer Camp opportunities in Canada and USA

Please check each provider’s website for the most up-to-date information on destinations, project availability, programme dates, costs and eligibility requirements. Opportunities may change throughout the year, and not all projects or destinations may be available when you apply. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have reviewed the latest information provided by your chosen organisation before submitting an application or making any financial commitments.
Important information about approved providers
Liverpool John Moores University has undertaken a range of due diligence checks to ensure that these organisations offer safe, ethical and appropriately managed international volunteering opportunities for students. However, these programmes are delivered by external organisations and are not official Liverpool John Moores University projects.
While all approved providers have demonstrated that they meet LJMU's criteria for the delivery of international volunteering programmes, responsibility for the placement itself rests with the provider. This includes project delivery, participant preparation and training, in-country support, safeguarding, risk management, and the management of any incidents or emergencies that may arise during the placement.
Liverpool John Moores University's role is limited to the administration of the Global Citizen Bursary and the provision of this funding to eligible students participating in an approved programme. Students are responsible for conducting their own research and satisfying themselves that a particular volunteering opportunity is suitable for their individual circumstances before committing to a programme.
