Wound care is a complex and rapidly evolving area of practice. As patient needs become more diverse and technologies more advanced, clinicians require not only foundational knowledge, but refined clinical judgement, diagnostic confidence, and the ability to integrate evidence into real-world decision-making.

This CPD programme is designed to strengthen your expertise in advanced wound assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. You will develop the skills to accurately evaluate wound aetiology, interpret clinical findings, and select appropriate, evidence-based management strategies tailored to individual patients.

Course content

This programme aims to equip health professionals with advanced clinical skills in wound assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. Through a combination of practical training and evidence-based learning, students will develop expertise in selecting and applying appropriate wound management strategies. The programme also explores the role of digital tools in assessment and documentation, ensuring learners are prepared to integrate innovative technologies into clinical practice for improved patient outcomes.

Teaching and learning

This programme equips health professionals with advanced clinical skills in wound assessment, diagnosis, and management through face-to-face taught sessions, online workshops, and tutorials. Learners will develop expertise in evidence-based intervention strategies and explore the integration of digital tools in wound assessment and documentation. The assessment at Level 7 involves a case-based analysis, requiring students to critically evaluate a complex wound care scenario.

  • Undergraduate degree

    LJMU usually accepts a first or second class honours degree in an appropriate subject from a UK Higher Education Institution or a qualification at EQF level 6 regarded as equivalent
