Our Women Professors

LJMU’s women professoriate is strong, eclectic and visible. Across every part of the university’s faculties, schools and senior leadership, women professors lead research, shape programmes, steward people and culture, and represent LJMU nationally and internationally.

Sector context matters. Nationally, analyses of HESA data continue to distinguish between “pure” Professor posts and Senior Academic roles, while progress toward gender parity is real but uneven. This is why visible communities like the WPN are needed to sustain momentum and opportunity.

Our current women professoriate numbers a little over thirty and is distributed across the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science and the Faculty of Society and Culture, alongside another ten women senior leaders. This breadth is our strength: disciplinary diversity, institutional service and research leadership working in concert.
