Do you have a disability or are you neurodiverse? Tell the university

We want to make it easier for LJMU students who have a disability, or are neurodiverse,  to tell the university. This is so reasonable adjustments can be made, and we can support you throughout your studies, ensuring you get the very best student experience.

We've updated our systems so that it is easy to tell us, at any time, about your disability or being neurodiverse. Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed, or didn’t share this information at the time of starting your studies, you can complete the Disability Declaration form here.

What disabilities should I declare?

Disabilities can include:

  • physical impairments, such as mobility difficulties

  • sensory impairments such as those affecting hearing or sight

  • learning difficulties, including people with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia

  • neurodiversity conditions, including Autism, or Autism Spectrum Conditions, ADHD: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADD: Attention Deficit Disorder

  • mental health conditions or illnesses which have a long-term effect such as depression and anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder

  • genetic and progressive conditions, if the condition affects your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities such as motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy

  • conditions which are characterised by several cumulative effects such as pain or fatigue

  • hidden impairments such as asthma or diabetes, if these have an effect on your day-to-day activities

What will happen once I’ve declared my disability?

Telling LJMU that you have a disability or specific support need (such as dyslexia, a physical impairment or a mental health condition) will help to ensure that you have access to the most relevant services and support during your studies at the university.

This information is managed under strict data protection guidelines and once you have completed the form, our disability team will be made aware of your declaration, as will relevant teaching staff.

The team will then be in touch to discuss an individual student learning plan and the reasonable adjustments that can be made when it comes to your studies and exams.

Complete the Disability Declaration form.
