In preparation for the refurbishment, the top floor of Mount Pleasant Library closed in summer 2026. Print stock previously located on this floor has been moved to the lower floors of the library. Quiet study is now located on the first floor.
From July 2026 until September 2027, physical access to the special collections and archives is restricted but the service will continue to answer enquiries and provide digital access to its holdings.
In late 2026 the whole of Mount Pleasant Library will close, re-opening in September 2027. During this closure period, a temporary Library will be located in the Pavilion, adjacent to Mount Pleasant Library. The Pavilion will house key print texts relating to semester two teaching, a staffed enquiry desk, study spaces and printing facilities. Our Academic Success team will also continue to offer a range of classes, drop-ins, and appointments to support students with searching and referencing library materials, and developing maths and statistics skills, and academic writing skills.
At Mount Pleasant Library, key print books for semester two will be available to browse and borrow from the ground floor of the Pavilion. There will also be a click and collect service enabling users to collect and return print books from City Campus Library.
Access to our collection of over 690 thousand e-books will continue, and students can also request items from other libraries via our Inter-library loan service and suggest new titles for the Library to purchase.
Quiet study spaces will be available on the top floor of the Pavilion and at City Campus Library.
The Library will continue to offer an enquiry service – in person at the Pavilion and City Campus Library, online, and on the telephone. Our Academic Success team will also continue to offer a range of classes, drop-ins, and appointments to support students with searching and referencing library materials, and developing maths and statistics skills, and academic writing skills.
