Our areas of expertise
Advancing the understanding of sport science through research in biomechanics, cardiovascular health, exercise metabolism, brain and behaviour, physical activity, and sport psychology.
Within RISES, research activity and communication are organised and overseen by discipline-specific research groups and multi-disciplinary thematic research exchanges. Membership is open to all in the School and each is led by a senior academic. Details of the research groups and exchanges are included below with their main focus being the organisation and delivery of world-leading research, training and impact within state-of-the-art facilities.
Our two themed ‘Exchanges’ are externally oriented with a focus on developing mutually beneficial partnerships with industry and end-users. This also matches specific areas of staff expertise, consultancy, service delivery and funding opportunities, as well as providing an opportunity for us to demonstrate our external impact and end-user translation.
