The Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences has a long history of working with external partners in the sport and exercise world as well as providing award-winning public engagement services to inform the broader public of key scientific advances that are helping our athletes and tackling 21st century health challenges associated with low levels of population physical activity (obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease).

All of our staff are committed to public engagement and the translation of their work to a range of diverse populations. This work allows us to demonstrate the positive impact that sport and exercise sciences can have on our communities (i.e., local, national and international).

Physical Activity Exchange research and consultancy services

The Exchange provides organisations with research and consultancy in applied physical activity, exercise and health. We conduct world-leading research in sedentary behaviour and physical activity with people of all ages. We can design, implement, deliver, monitor and evaluate laboratory- and community- based projects. We offer consultancy in the planning and evaluation of policy, practice and behaviour change interventions. Our research and consultancy work is based on public health evaluation frameworks.

The Football Exchange research, consultancy and education

The Football Exchange and its members work extensively across three main areas: consultancy, education, and research. It has conducted multi-disciplinary work with many of the top organizations in football and can provide bespoke solutions for you and your organisation.

Science and Football Steering Group

World Congresses of Science and Football and Science and Soccer Conferences

These conferences aim to provide a scientific forum for researchers and practitioners within the football codes for presenting their recent work, to advance the use of science in football. All discipline areas are represented: biomechanics, coaching, exercise physiology, match analysis, motor behavior, performance profiling, psychology, sports medicine and training.
