Gary is a paramedic science graduate of LJMU with over two decades of experience in the ambulance service. He has now made the transition to become a full-time member of staff at the university, teaching the next generation of health professionals. In 2023 he was named as an Outstanding Teacher at the students’ union awards after being nominated by his students.

The Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Science areas of expertise are organised into research groups and exchanges which focus on the following: biomechanics, cardiovascular health, exercise metabolism, brain and behaviour, physical activity, sport psychology and football-related research.

Partnership Grants of up to £3000 are available to schools to enable students to carry out science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) projects. The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences runs two of these projects per year.
