    Barry Groombridge joined Elder Dempster Lines aged 16. Barry’s first voyage was from London to the United States, via West Africa. The voyage lasted nine months.     Professor Zara Quigg is one of the youngest professors at LJMU and a behavioural epidemiologist at our Public Health Institute. Her zeal and energy have placed her at the heart of the fight for better public health here on Merseyside.

  9. Beth Tweddle MBE

    Beth graduated with a degree in sports science in 2007 and was in the very first class of scholars in the Sports Scholarship programme that launched in 2004. She is renowned as Britain’s greatest-ever female gymnast.
