  5. Henry Egerton Cotton 1929 - 1993

    The first Chancellor of the university and a well-known figure in Liverpool. He is immortalised in statue form on our City Campus outside of the Henry Cotton Building.

  6. Sir Dr Brian Harold May CBE

    Sir Brian May, legendary Queen guitarist and astrophysicist, was the fourth Chancellor of the university, a post in which he championed the student focussed approach that is core to LJMU’s vision and values.

  7. Professor Colin Fallows

    Professor Colin Fallows is an artist, curator and Professor of Sound and Visual Arts here at LJMU within the Liverpool School of Art and Design. Since joining the school in 1978, he has been able to share his knowledge and experience with thousands of students.

  8. Ken Birch

    Ken Birch was a Managing Director for Elder Dempster Lines. Ken had a family history of seafaring and had experience of the sea as a child after he and his family relocated to Southport because of the bombings in WWII. LIsten to Ken's interview.

    Part of the University’s Mount Pleasant Campus, the Redmond’s Building is neighboured by LJMU’s RIBA award-winning Art and Design Academy and the recently developed Copperas Hill site.

  10. Phil Halpin

    Phil is Managing Director of Liverpool-based film company Mocha, which he set up alongside three other LJMU graduates at the turn of the 21st century. The business’s first client was LJMU and over more than two decades the company has gone from strength to strength, working on music videos to ministerial briefings. This year they created the LJMU 200 film in celebration of our bicentenary year.
