  2. Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour

    Within the Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour we are involved in research which looks at perception, attention, emotion, learning and memory, sensory and motor processes, and includes animal models of neurobehavioral research. We investigate cognitive and brain mechanisms in psychologically and neurologically intact animals and humans, and the disruption of these processes caused by drugs, brain damage, ageing or atypical development.

  5. Ken Birch

    Ken Birch was a Managing Director for Elder Dempster Lines. Ken had a family history of seafaring and had experience of the sea as a child after he and his family relocated to Southport because of the bombings in WWII. LIsten to Ken's interview.

  6. Phil Swash

  7. Phil Bridges

    Phil is the founder of a Liverpool-based mental health social enterprise called The Mind Map, helping to improve people’s mental health through counselling, training and awareness. It was his own experiences growing up that influenced his decision to set-up the organisation.

  8. Phil Ossai

    Phil is a graduate of Liverpool Business School, having studied business, management and marketing. He now runs his own personal branding agency, OSSAI, which is going from strength-to-strength amplifying the voices of Black and diverse founders and CEOs.

  9. Phil Bakstad

    Phil has worked at LJMU for over 16 years. He’s currently the Student Inclusion Lead within the Student Advice and Wellbeing Team and has recently started a new role as Diversity and Inclusion Associate Dean for Professional Services. Since 2010, Phil has also led on organising and representing LJMU at the annual Liverpool Pride March.

  10. Phil Halpin

    Phil is Managing Director of Liverpool-based film company Mocha, which he set up alongside three other LJMU graduates at the turn of the 21st century. The business’s first client was LJMU and over more than two decades the company has gone from strength to strength, working on music videos to ministerial briefings. This year they created the LJMU 200 film in celebration of our bicentenary year.
