    Lol is a support officer for our School of Art and Design with a lead role in running the Fab Lab, our digital fabrication laboratory that sees students, staff and partners using technology to make almost anything. He is a champion of supporting creative talent in Liverpool and uses his knowledge to nurture our students’ skills and to work with creative partners across the city.

  2. Professor Mike Riley

    Professor Mike Riley has worked at LJMU for some 33 years and is the Director of the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment. He is passionate about giving students the tools they need to be the best that they can be in the world of building and construction.

  3. Fadi Alnaef

    Fadi is a 2023 graduate from the maritime business and management programme. He came to the UK as a refugee, having fled his home in Damascus, Syria, and gaining his initial qualifications in Greece. He used his dissertation research to highlight the challenges facing the shipping sector and their obligations under international law to help vessels in distress, including refugee and migrant boat crossings.

  4. Anyika Onuora

    Anyika graduated in economics from LJMU in 2008 and was in the very first class of scholars in the Sports Scholarship programme that launched in 2004. She went on to become an Olympic-winning track and field athlete.

  5. Stuart Sutcliffe 1940-1962

    A talented artist who studied at our College of Art in the 1950s and is famously known as the ‘lost’ Beatle having originally formed the band with his friend and fellow student John Lennon.

  6. Nisha Katona MBE

    Our sixth Chancellor and our first alumni Chancellor, Nisha Katona MBE, is an ambassador, advocate and role model for our students and staff. After studying law at LJMU, she went on to work as a Barrister for nearly 20 years before setting up her own business, Mowgli, one of the fastest growing restaurant movements in the country.

  7. Mike Bode

    Emeritus Professor of Astrophysics, Mike Bode, was the founding Director of the Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU and led the Institute until his sabbatical in 2014/15.

  8. Dr Sasha Kosanic

    Dr Sasha Kosanic is an interdisciplinary scientist whose research focuses on answering complex questions about climate change and the impact it is having on nature and societies. She is also an advocate for inclusion in education, as a former Paralympian and a scientist living with Cerebral Palsy, she looks to highlight inequalities wherever she finds them and to drive forwards change in research and academia.

  9. Malik Al Nasir

    Malik Al Nasir is an author, poet and academic from Liverpool. From the age of 9 to 18 Malik grew up in care. By 18 he says he was left traumatised, semi-literate, homeless and destitute, many years later going on to successfully sue Liverpool City Council for neglect, racism and physical abuse.

  10. Lottie Kippax

    Lottie is undertaking her master’s in pharmacy at LJMU and juggles her studies alongside work at a local pharmacy, helping the community of Liverpool while furthering her own skills.
