Robyn White - Graduate Case Study
Robyn White graduated in 2025 with a degree in International Business Studies and now works as a Sales and Marketing Executive for We Are Social Nation.
What does job involve?
Outreaching to all different types of brands with proposals for the influencers we represent to collaborate with.
Why did you decide to apply for a graduate scheme?
Loved the marketing aspect of my degree and this job let me be as creative as I wanted to be.
What three things do you like about your job?
- No day is ever the same
- Opens me up to opportunities I would've never imagined possible
- I work with some amazing women
What did the application or selection process involve, and how did you prepare for each stage?
I made myself a portfolio and got in contact with their social media pages to see if there were any jobs going. Luckily, they had new jobs available. I had to firstly go in and speak to my now Line Manager and CEO of the company and then on my second round I had marketing tasks to fulfil such as creating Canva posts, email outreach and graphics. Luckily for me, they liked everything I had created and then offered me the job.
What help and support did you access from the Student Futures team?
I had a 1-2-1 careers meeting to get some help with interview skills prior to my interview for my current role.
What relevant work experience, skills, volunteering or Student Union activities did you use during the selection process?
My final year project gave me the skills I needed to create such outgoing graphics which my team now utilise daily. We worked with Strawberry Field on how to update their online shop to target more Gen-Z customers which goes hand in hand with who I work with today.
What advice would you give to other students to improve their employability?
Be yourself, always have a goal, you can never learn enough - every day is a school day, use it to your advantage.
Would you do anything differently in terms of your employability if you were a first-year student again?
I would go to more job fairs offered by the Student Futures team to meet employers and get work experience.
How has studying your specific degree subject at LJMU helped you to develop the skills, knowledge and/or experiences that will help you in your future career?
It taught me how to compose myself when surrounded by professional people and how to showcase my talent correctly.
Have you faced any challenges making the transition from university into work, and if so, how did you overcome these?
It's always hard trying to find a job once you've graduated because you are one of a thousand people who have graduated at the same time. You've got to believe in yourself and demonstrate to an employer that you're the best candidate for the job.
Any other advice you would give to LJMU students around careers and employability or your own experiences?
If you pick a job that you love, you'll never work another day in your life.
