Womens Progression Symposium
LJMU launched its first virtual Women Academics Progression Symposium in 2021. The event was open to all staff at LJMU and aimed to encourage more women to apply for their Readership/Professorship status. The symposium was split into a half-day workshop and afternoon group surgeries, where attendees could hear from women Professors and Readers whom had already been through the Conferment process themselves.
This opportunity was brought to staff by LJMU’s Women’s Professorial Network in association with the Women Academics Network, Diversity and Inclusion Team and Pro VC of Research and Enterprise Professor Keith George and was supported by Pro VC of Strategic Initiatives Professor Phil Vickerman and Executive Director of Human Resources (HR) Tina Purkis.
