Faq Items

Who should attend this event?

All international students, including study abroad and exchange programme students, who are starting their studies in September 2022.

Please note: Study abroad and exchange programme students should use their dedicated arrival and orientation page for further guidance.

Why should I attend the International Welcome Event?

Joining this welcome event is a great way to start your new life in the UK, to adjust to the LJMU university environment and to meet new and current international students. This event gives you the opportunity to network and connect with other students, members of the international and student support teams, and your programme leaders. Students who attend these types of events tend to have a smoother transition into their academic studies and life in the UK.

We also have plenty of exciting activities going on e.g. city and campus tours, pub quizzes with other students and an experience of the night life of Liverpool with a bar crawl.

What will be covered at the International Welcome Event?

The full International Welcome Event programme is available now.

Are there any social activities planned for international students during this event?

Yes, our International Welcome Event programme includes a list of activities and events to help international students get to know the local area and make friends.

When will I start my studies at LJMU?

The start date for most programmes is the 19 September 2022. We recommend that you confirm this date on your offer letter as some courses may require you to be in the UK earlier than this date. You will start your studies with a departmental induction and welcome, details of which will be confirmed in your offer letter.

How do I book a place at the International Welcome Event?

You should confirm to us that you will be attending by completing our International Arrivals and Induction Form 2022.

What if I cannot attend the International Welcome Event?

We do expect you to be in the UK for this induction event as part of your LJMU experience. At the latest you are expected to be in the UK for the programme start date of the 19 September 2022.

Additional compliance sessions will be held up until the 5 October 2022 for those who will miss the mandatory sessions at our International Welcome Event.

Airport meet and greet

We will be offering an airport meet and greet service from Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester International airports. This airport pickup service is designed to accommodate students for their arrival into Liverpool, and more specifically for those who will be attending our in-person induction/welcome events. Our Induction and Welcome event will be running from the 15 to 16 September 2022.

To book this service, you will need to give our support team at least two days’ notice to guarantee the transfer for you. Please use this form to book your free airport transfer.

Please be aware that we only offer this pickup service for drop off to the following postcode areas within Liverpool: L1 – L8, L15, L17 and L18.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide our airport pickup service to those who will be studying at LJMU as a partnership exchange or study abroad student (for example, if you are completing a semester abroad in partnership with LJMU). If you are an exchange or study abroad student, please visit the dedicated arrival and orientation page for further details and answers to the frequently asked questions.
