Innovation in partnership

Exploring new approaches to learning

With a reputation for innovation, our partnerships look at exploring new contexts for learning and new curriculum and pedagogic models in order to enhance the professional learning opportunities for beginning teachers and experienced educators.

A few examples of our partnerships:

  • Liverpool Supplementary Schools
Many of our trainees gain additional experience through placements in one of the city’s supplementary schools. They make valuable contributions to the educational work of these community-led organisations while gaining valuable experience of the needs of a culturally diverse school population.

  • Liverpool ONE
Developing learning resources based on the leisure facility including: learning about the world of work and the management of a large organisation; learning at Liverpool ONE which tackles history (the Liverpool Docks, Chavasee Park), geography (land use, map skills), art and design technology (logos, signage, design of structures), tourism and leisure (marketing), and mathematics (data collection)

  • A Class of Your Own
Our trainees worked alongside A Class of Your Own to ensure the learning resources for their sustainability workshops were effective and beneficial to young people and their teachers

  • West Kirby Grammar School
We have worked in collaboration with the school’s leadership team to design, develop and implement a professional learning programme that is jointly delivered on site by our teacher education team and staff from the school. The Advanced Educational Practice (PGCert) programme is strongly rooted in professional practice and informed by practitioner research. The programme has made a significant impact on changing approaches to teaching and learning.

  • Research Labs at Brookfields School
Working with our teacher education team, staff from this outstanding special school have developed a number of research projects exploring key aspects of learning and support. Outcomes will inform developments in practice in the school.
