Chief Mate/DipHE Nautical Science

Chief Mate Unlimited, STCW Convention regulation 11/2

At Liverpool John Moores University we offer a full time programme towards Chief Mate qualification, with all STCW content taught in classroom settings by highly qualified and experienced staff. The programme runs for three terms and is usually completed within ten months. We specialise in SQA teaching at Mates level and have excellent results against national pass rates. We are situated in the centre of Liverpool city and have a local MCA office for completion of oral examinations.

We have excellent teaching facilities, including two simulator suites. We have a dedicated team of lecturers who provide support from arrival through to what we hope will be the successful completion of professional exams for all students.

Our courses start each year in September, January and May.
